Fear Effect Sedna’s Kickstarter Now Live

Fear Effect Sedna’s Kickstarter Now Live

The return of Fear Effect moved closer today as its new entries Kickstarter went live today.

Fear Effect Sedna is developed by indie French studio Sushee. The game falls under the Square Enix Collective, allowing Sushee to gain access to the Fear Effect license as well some promotion and marketing. Square will also earn 5% from the net amount crowd founded, plus another 10% of the game’s revenue.

Sedna will allow players to control five characters in a cyberpunk universe as they explore, solve puzzles and fight. Combat is real-time with the option to pause the action in order to plan out the next move, much like Dragon Age: Origins or early Mass Effect titles.

It’s been a long time since Fear Effect was on the market. The over the top erotic lesbian tones of the originals probably won’t be present, but that’s not the only difference. Sedna is a much more tactical affair, boasting a ‘deep and mature’ story.  There’s plenty of Pledge options on offer, including pre-orders with an esitmated delivery time of May 2017.

As for the stake Square Enix have in this, it feels a bit off -

So this will be a Fear Effect game on name alone? Because I remember these games were a cinematic survival horror series ala old-school Resident Evil games but now they are turning it into some kind of tactical shooter rpg? No thanks.

Looks that way. I’ll still check it out but the franchise was never one of my favourites to begin with.
